Stephen Harper spent his youth right here in Etobicoke Centre attending both John G. Althouse Middle School and Richview Collegiate Institute. When John G. The Conservative Government is lifting visa requirements for visitors from Poland, Slovakia, Lithuania, and Hungary.
Canada is a nation of incredible diversity. Our country's ability to attract the best and brightest from around the world is an enormous advantage that helps our economy grow and improves our quality of life.
The Conservative Government is building on this foundation by lifting the temporary visa requirement for visitors from Poland, Slovakia, Lithuania and Hungary. This will open up more opportunities for travel and trade and help more Canadians from our Polish, Slovakian, Lithuanian and Hungarian communities stay in touch with their families abroad.

Piotr Ogrodzinski at the announcement in Mississauga
As these countries are members of the EU, this is a long overdue and very welcome announcement for these communities. In the words of Wladyslaw Lizon, President of the Polish Canadian Congress, this Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Harper "not only makes promises to the Polish community, but it actually delivers!"
Over the last 2 years I have worked with community leaders including Piotr Rytwinski, Major Ted Opitz, and former city councillor Chris Korwin-Kuczynski to make this happen. This is a result that clearly demonstrates, once again, that this government doesn't just talk about progress, but actually gets things done for all Canadians.
Again, congratulations to the Polish, Slovak, Lithuanian, and Hungarian communities across Canada!
